GEAR & ASSET MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR
Growing up hockey was my entire life. Eat, sleep and play hockey was my life up until I graduated high school. I knew hockey would never be able to fully leave my life as I played club and intramurals all throughout college. Senior year of college is when I realized maybe I can combine my love of sports (specifically hockey) and being a creative into a full time job. This is where Monumental Sports & Entertainment took a chance on me to become their Gear and Asset Coordinator.
Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would be working in professional sports right out of college, but here I am. I get to help with a variety of tasks whether that be bringing and setting up gear for Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards media days, or organizing all edits, designs, photos, and motion graphics for all of our teams. No day looks the same when working in professional sports and that’s what makes it so much fun!
Of course I have had imposter syndrome, questioning why I am here and wondering if I should have taken a job that was tailored more to what I studied in college. But, I wouldn’t change this experience for the world, as it has been one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences of my life. So don’t be afraid to take/apply to jobs that are outside your area of study or you don’t feel like you are qualified for; because they may become one of the decisions you have ever made!
